My House Fellowship CHURCH
Why is it that the very things that have taken so many of our love ones away, many of us still embrace? It is estimated that 80,000 people die from alcohol-related deaths each year. 63,600 lives were lost to drug overdose. Out of the 66% of those who died in 2016, 26% was from prescription drugs. They also estimate millions of Americans suffer from depression each year. Over 50% of all people who die by suicide suffer from major depression, add alcohol and prescription drugs to the equation can be deadly.Alcohol might not affect you the way it does others, drugs might not affect you the way it does others, but there are those around us we love so dear that they do effect.Yet we continue as a society to embrace the very things that cause so much grief and sorrow in our lives. Many who have died in our families of premature deaths have all been affected in some shape fashion or form, by these three killers. [Alcohol, prescription drugs and depression, whether it be directly or indirectly.] When will we say enough is enough: The Bible says in: [Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.] I don’t want to see another untimely death in our families and across this nation that we might be able to prevent. When will you open your eyes to see the very things that contribute to so many problems in our lives, including death, will be the same things many of you will turn to for comfort? Just a little something to ease the pain, just a little something to deaden the senses, just a little something to get me through; sad to say some of you will even offer them to other love ones; in a gesture of love and kindness I know; not knowing at all you might be contributing to another untimely death or addiction. I beg you this day, I plead with you this day, let us stop using and especially abusing the very things that are helping take them away, whether it be directly or indirectly. Let us not be a stumbling block to each other as well. You might be able to drink a little and stop, that cousin, that aunt that uncle, that sister that brother not wanting to be left out; they can’t. That child you are bringing up with so much love and affection might be the next family alcoholic, the next family drug addict, the next member to die because of you. Whether it be directly or indirectly, your actions speak louder than any words, God says: [1Co 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.] You might be able to take your medication properly, yet seeing a love one suffering in pain you offer them a pain pill, in your mind it is an innocent gesture of love you don’t want to see them hurting; but what if it’s not pain from an injury but pain from an addiction or a growing addiction you might be contributing to. And all of you that glorify alcohol, you might just be the inspiration of the next family member alcoholic. We are our brother’s keepers: [1Co 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.] The stumblingblock is an occasion for them to sin. How many love one have you caused to stumble? Jesus says in: [Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.] God is not a liar, his word is true; are you needing rest from the pains of life, are you needing rest from the pains of the body, are you needing rest from the pains of depression, are you needing rest from any affliction life has dealt you, turn to Jesus. Not to the very things that could be escalating your sorrow, and the sorrow of those around you, prescription drugs and the spirits of alcohol, have you ever wondered why they call them spirits in the first place? Please, turn to Jesus; he is an addiction that won’t turn on you. I hope some of you are saying how do I do that Gary? Believe in God’s word. [Rom10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.] Saved from what, saved from the very hell you are going through, saved from depression, saved from the weariness of pain and suffering, saved from those spirits of alcohol, saved from drugs and yes saved from the pits of hell its self.
God is waiting on you to call, not some man in a church building calling on God on your behalf, God wants to hear from you. If you will seek him in prayer with all your heart you will find him according to his word: [Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. ] Alcohol will come back to haunt you, pills used incorrectly and even correctly, can come back and haunt you, mixed together they are a deadly combination. Sometimes we don’t want to hear the very things we need to and what we don’t want to say what needs to be said, but I am saying them. Jesus is the answer to all our pains in life, if we would but call on his name in faith believing. You can do that anywhere at any time, you don’t need a church, you don’t need a preacher, just call on God in the name of Jesus Christ in true repentance and see what happens. Our Lord says in: [Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,] I beseech you all, don’t turn to those things that help contribute to so much pain and sorrow in this world and yes even death, turn to God through Jesus Christ our Lord, he will set you free. I closing: [Rom 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Rom 14:22 Hast thou faith? have to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth, God bless. Pastor Gary
